One common struggle I see with clients is the tendency to set goals based on external expectations rather than internal desires. Perhaps you’ve found yourself pursuing a career path because it’s what you “should” do; or striving for a particular milestone because it’s what’s expected of you. These types of goals often lead to burnout and dissatisfaction because they lack a genuine connection to your true self.
Instead, focus on what matters most to you. Why do you want this goal? How will it improve your life? For example, if your goal is to save money, is it because you want financial security, freedom to travel, or the ability to support your family? Understanding your why will help you stay committed and make the process more rewarding.

Many women I work with struggle with feeling pulled in multiple directions and overwhelmed. They have big dreams but find it hard to stay focused amid the demands of daily life. This is where the power of intention comes in. When you approach each day with a clear sense of purpose, you’re able to make choices that support your goals rather than detract from them.
For example, let’s say your goal is to prioritise your health. - Fear of Failure: Fear can be paralysing, but it’s often a sign that you’re stepping out of your comfort zone—and that’s a good thing! Because that’s where growth happens. Reframe failure as feedback and use it to refine your approach.
- Perfectionism: Waiting for the perfect moment or perfect conditions often leads to inaction. Instead, aim for progress, not perfection. Even small, imperfect action moves you closer to your goal.
- Overcommitment: Ambitious women often take on too much, leaving little room for personal goals. Practice setting boundaries and prioritise what truly matters.
Building Momentum: Small, Consistent Steps Lead to Big Changes
Achieving your goals doesn’t require grand leaps. It’s the small, consistent steps that create lasting change. Start by breaking your goal into manageable actions and focus on taking one step at a time. Remember, every step forward is progress, no matter how small it may seem.
Also, remember that goal setting is not a one-time process. Life changes, and so do your aspirations. Take time to regularly reflect on your goals and your progress and reassess and refine your goals when needed. Are they still aligned with your values and vision? If not, don’t be afraid to adjust course. Reflection and refinement are key to staying on track and maintaining momentum.

The life you want is within reach, and it starts with setting meaningful, intentional goals. By gaining clarity, connecting with your why, and aligning your actions with your vision, you can create a roadmap that leads to a life you love.
